Club Handicap
There was a good turnout for the annual club handicap race on 10th December and the new course seemed to be well received. This was Roger’s first attempt at setting the handicap and he managed to judge runners times well with most of the field finishing close together. The race was won by Sue Whisler who started and finished first with Andy Johns, who started 3rd from last, finishing second. The race was followed by a welcome cup of tea (or coffee) and plenty of sandwiches and cakes. Many thanks to Kathleen for organising the teas and refreshments (as it says on the Fife AC web site ‘blessed are the piece makers’).
Isabel was voted Athlete of the Year in recognition of her support of the club and performance in races. Isabel also manages to get her non-running family involved in the club with Jim providing transport and support at races and son-in-law Gordon running the web site for us.
Gordon won the men’s Championship, I won the ladies Championship and Gill Lopez got the club London Marathon entry. If you were unsuccessful in your bid for the London Marathon entry you could consider entering Lochaber Marathon which is on the same day (22 April) and entries are still available.
Annual General Meeting
The next main club event is the AGM on 25th January at 8pm at Milnathort Town Hall and it would be great if people could come along to support the committee. The agenda usually consists of agreeing the minutes of the last meeting, the President’s, Treasurers and Coaches reports, agreeing subscription fees and Championship races and electing the committee. I will send out a copy of the minutes of the last AGM for information. Please let me know if there’s anything you would like to add to the agenda and if you are willing to join the committee (all help gratefully appreciated!). All committee members need a proposer and seconder and we need to elect a new President as David is resigning.
Loch Leven Half Marathon
We have applied for a Scottishathletics permit for Loch Leven Half Marathon on 19th May 2007. There should be no problem with holding the race on this date but we will have lots of competition as both Dunfermline Half Marathon and Edinburgh Marathon are on 27th May. We are using Born2Run for on line entries this year as they supply results software and take postal entries. Myrace magazine have offered to sponsor the event by providing a free half page advert in the next edition and free subscriptions to use as prizes. Highland Spring have also agreed to supply bottled water again. Please let the committee know if you have any new ideas for sponsorship. It would also be helpful if people could print off flyers and distribute them to anybody that might be interested in running the race. I will Email flyers to everybody as soon as they are ready.
