A field of seventy competed in Kinross Road Runners second race of the year, the Milnathort Dash, on 22 June. The 5.4 mile course takes runners from Milnathort Town Hall over the motorway and to Athron Hall via Meikle Seggie then back to Milnathort via Tillyrie with great views of Loch Leven. The race was won by Perth Road Runner David Knight in a time of 29:45, Carnegie Harrier Ros Alexander was 10th overall and 1st lady in 34:10. Steven Crawford was first Kinross Road Runner in a time of 34:13, he was followed by Douglas Leitch (39:39), Patricia Milne 41:41 and husband Raymond Milne (41:54), Andrew Johns (41:58), Valerie Findlay (44:51) Sandy MacCalman (47:46), Sue Whisler (49:27) and Norman Smith (51:20).

The Milnathort Dash was followed by the Black Rock 5 on 23rd June. This popular race from Kinghorn across Pettycur beach goes around the Black Rock which is only exposed at low tide. Gordon Donnachie was first Kinross Road Runner in 34:35, he was followed by Christine Myerscough (35:59), Gillian Lopez (37:19), Graeme Malcolm (37:35), Isabella Carmichael (38:23) and Ann Malcom (40:59).

Four Kinross Road Runners ran Glenrothes 10K on 18th June and Patricia Milne competed in the biathlon. Judith Dobson was first female veteran in 43:30 and Isabella Carmichael was first female over 50 in 49:14. Geoff Bilton completed the course in 50:57 followed by Sue Whisler (57:50). Patricia Milne ran the 10K in 48:09 giving her a total biathlon time of 64:07.

Twelve Kinross Road Runners competed in the Club Championship race, the Brig Bash 5 on 5th July. Rashmi Shah was the first Kinross Road Runner in 32:01 followed by Andrew Johns (37:24), Gordon Donnachie (37:30), Roger Stark (38:29), Gillian Lopez (39:16) Geoff Bilton (40:48), Isabella Carmichael (41:20), Graeme Malcolm (42:39), Bill Nouillan (42:54), Sue Whisler (44:11), Ann Malcolm (44:49) and Norman Smith (47:56). Graeme and Ann Malcolm were racing again two nights later at the Shell Bay Sandy Slither. This race follows the coast from Largo to Elie and runners can get wet if the tide is too far in. Graeme (54:44) finished ahead of Ann (62:18).

Nine Kinross Road Runners ran the next Club Championship race, Newburgh 5, on 12th July. Gordon Donnachie was first in 32:10 followed by Gillian Lopez (34:24), Anne MacDonald (34:39), Isabella Carmichael (34:50), Geoff Bilton (35:14), Bill Nouillan (37:41), Sue Whisler (37:42), Laura McConnell (39:39) and Jean Izatt (40:43).

The weather was hot at Crieff 10K on 16th July but the runners benefited from the shade of the trees as they ran up Laggan Hill and along St Mary’s walk beside the R. Earn. Judith Dobson was first Kinross Road Runner and 2nd lady veteran in a time of 46:24. Gordon Donnachie and Isabella Carmichael improved their times from 2005 to finish in 50:53 and 53:14 respectively. Sue Whisler ran this tough course for the first time in 62:06.

Kinross Road Runners meet at 7pm on a Wednesday evening outside Loch Leven Health Centre. The club caters for runners of all ages and abilities and all are welcome to join us.
