Kinross High School PTA 10K on 27 April attracted a field of nearly 200 runners which included 22 Kinross Road Runners. The race was won by ex Kinross High School pupil Steven Irwin who runs for Pitreavie AAC in a time of 34mins 14sec. Rashmi Shah was highest placed Kinross Road Runner finishing 25th in a time of 40:31, followed by Stephen Crawford (41:12). Kate Ives was first Kinross lady and 4th lady in the race in a time of 43:26 followed by Judith Dobson (44:20). Chris Hills (46.13) beat son Daniel (49:27) and Trish Milne (48:24) beat husband Raymond (49:35), Gordon Donnachie achieved a new personal best time of 47.14.and John Myerscough (49:08) achieved his target of sub 50mins. There was only 2 mins between Gillian Lopez (50:30) John Stevenson (50:36) Valerie Findlay (51:52) Louise Pryde (51:57) and Isabel Carmichael (52.46). Laura McConnell ran well in her first 10K race to finish in 55.20. Catriona Berry (57.35) Sandy MacCalman (58.12) Keith Logan (58.50) Sue Whisler (59.03) and Jean Izatt (59.51) also completed the course in under an hour. Catriona McRobbie was last home in 73.43.
Judith Dobson, Isabel Carmichael and Gordon Donnachie ran the Edinburgh to North Berwick 22 mile race on 6th May as part of their training for Edinburgh Marathon on 11 June. This race was first run in 1958 when the roads were much quieter, these days runners are taken off the course if they are unable to complete the distance in under 3.5 hours. All 3 Kinross Road Runners were included in the field of 134 who successfully completed the course in 2:48, 3:15 and 3:28 respectively. John Stevenson and Karen Quinn ran the much bigger BUPA Great Edinburgh Run 10K the following day in 48:52 and 68:58. Karen Quinn also ran Balmoral 10K in 71.35.
Club Championship race ‘the Auld Toun 10K’ on 10 May attracted a field of nearly 400 which included nine Kinross Road Runners. Steven Crawford completed the new hilly course in 40.12 to finish 44th. Judith Dobson was 1st FV45 in 43.46 and was closely followed by Ewan Davis (44.27) and Douglas Leitch (44.50). Gordon Donnachie (48.26) finished next and was followed by John Myerscough (50.18), Isabel Carmichael (51.23), Denise Malone (60.44) and Jean Izatt (60.55).
Kinross Road Runners entered a mixed and a lady veterans team in the Cateran Trail race on 13 May. The lady veterans team (Louise Pryde, Valerie Findlay, Christine Myerscough, Isabel Carmichael, Judith Dobson and Kate Ives) won their category for the 4th time since 2002 completing the 23 mile course ahead of the Perth lady veterans team in 3hrs and 48mins. The mixed team (Catriona Berry, Sue Whisler, Laura McConnell, Tony Sweeney, Keith Logan, Sandy MacCalman and Bill Nouillan) didn’t win any prizes but all enjoyed the race.
Postal entries for Loch Leven Half Marathon on 27th May close on 20th May but on line entries are available until 25th May at www.EntryCentral.net. There is also a children’s Fun Run which starts at 1:30pm at KGV. Entry to the Fun Run is £2, all runners receive a medal and a goody bag and the proceeds are donated to a local charity.
