Hartley Relay - Sunday 14th November - Wee County Harriers organised this year's relay at the Tulliallan Police College and Kinross performed well with two teams finishing third and seventh. Perth Road Runners won the Hartley Cup.  Kinross times were as follows:

Glen Clova Half Marathon - Saturday 13th November - Gordon Donnachie beat Bill Nouillan by almost 30 seconds to cut 30 minutes off his time from last year's race.  Judith Dobson was home in 1:41:20; Gordon in 2:04:54 and Bill in 2:05:22. http://www.forfarroadrunners.com/clova_results.htm

Loch Ness 10K - Sunday 3rd October - Gordon Donnachie and Sue Whisler travelled north to Inverness completing the 10k course in 50:20 and 1:00:34 respectively. Yet another personal best for Gordon.  www.raceahead.net

 

Five Hills of Fife - Saturday 2nd October - Willie Rennie and his cousin Neil Arnott from Lochaber AC competed in this five hill, 16 mile, four leg race.  They finished 6th out of over 20 twenty teams in 2:42 and around 20 minutes behind the winners. The highlight of the course was the section through one mile of nettles - with shorts on!

Aberfeldy Half Marathon - Sunday 12th September - Despite a windy day Judith Dobson and Willie Rennie recorded PBs.  Willie was 20th in a time of 1:25:54 and Judith was home in 1:35:24 securing the third female supervet prize.

Perth 10K - Sunday 29th August - Judith Dobson was 80th in a PB time of 44:26.  David Houston was 228th in 53:38 and was followed by Catriona McRobbie in 303rd in a time of 1:01:05.  There were 359 runners, last to finish was Kenneth Stewart who had been running for 24hrs to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Nurses.  Jake Dobson was 9th in the Fun Run.

Graham Clark Memorial 3.9 Mile Road Race - Wednesday 25th August - Three club members completed the race with Rashmi Shah first home in a time of 23:52 and 27th place.  He was followed by Alex O'Hare in 30:43 and Ann Malcolm in 31:35.     www.carnegie-harriers.co.uk

Kirkcaldy 10K - Sunday 8th August - Gordon Donnachie recorded a personal best in a time of 54.54.

 

Heatherhall Woods Road Race - Wednesday 4th August - Ken Chalmers took part in this road and trail race which was part of the larger Tour of Fife Race organised by Fife AC.  Over the 4.5 mile course Ken recorded a time of 33:41 securing 57th place.  http://www16.brinkster.com/bcruickshank//tour04_road_results.htm

 

Donkey Brae - Sunday 1st August - Five club members ran the seven mile and two mile races at the Aberdour Festival.  Jacob Dobson was placed 15th out of 381 runners in the two mile run in a time of 14:15.  Willie Rennie was first home for the club in the seven mile race along the coastal path to Dalgety Bay and back.  He recorded a time of 45:51 in 45th place out of 310 runners.  Willie was followed by Judith Dobson in 51:17 (108th) and Ken Chalmers in 51:53 (113th).  Despite a bad fall at five miles Gordon Donnachie completed the course in 73:04.

Newburgh 5 - Wednesday 14th July - Rashmi Sahah was first Kinross Road Runner back in 26:37 and 24th place, closely followed by Willie Rennie in 26:59 and 31st place .  Anne Wilson ran well again to finish in 32:26, she was followed by Alec O’Hare (32:59), Gill Lopez (34:44), David Houston (36:28min) and Gordon Donnachie (37.49). http://pub10.bravenet.com/forum/851002375/show/426312

 

Brig Bash 5 - Wednesday 7th July - Ten club members were amongst 204 runners taking part in this popular fast, flat course at Bridge of Earn.  This was the first race for some time for Anne Wilson after a long illness and it looks like she's getting back to her previous form.  First home in 26th place was Willie Rennie in 30:47.  He was followed by Jacob Dobson in 32:44 and 54th place; Judith Dobson, 76th, 34.34; Martin Pettinger, 77th, 34.37; Anne Wilson, 107th, 36.49; Julia Leslie-Melville, 127th, 39.08; Gill Lopez, 130th, 39.33; David Houston, 142nd, 40.34; Debbie Gillespie, 147th, 41.11; Anne Hamill, 168th, 42:16; and Gordon Donnachie, 169th, 42.24.  http://www.geocities.com/perthroadrunners/2004BB5.html

 

Dundee Half Marathon - Sunday 27th June - Brian Cook and Gordon Donnachie ran the first Dundee Half Marathon since 1995 and completed the course in 2:06 and 2:23 respectively.

 

Seven Hills of Edinburgh - Sunday 27th June - Judith Dobson completed this course in a time of  2:31:10.  It is described as a combination of road-running, cross-country, hill-running, and urban orienteering... 14 miles in length and with 2200 feet of ascent/descent.  http://www.seven-hills.org.uk/default.asp

Black Rock 5 - Friday 18th June - Following their participation in the Edinburgh Marathon Ann Malcolm, Bill Nouillan and Sandy MacCalman were back racing again at the Black Rock 5 at Kinghorn along with Graeme Malcolm, David Houston, Martin Pettinger and Judith Dobson.  Martin was first back in 33:46 followed by Judith (34:25), Graeme (35:38), Ann (39:01), David (39:43), Sandy (40:10) and Bill (41:29).  Judith won a prize for finishing 1st FV45. http://www.huntersbogtrotters.com/blackrock/results2004.htm

 

Edinburgh Marathon - Sunday 13th June - Eleven club members ran the Edinburgh Marathon with Rashmi Shah first home in 3:29.03.  Gill Lopez followed in 4:09:04; Bill Nouillan, 4:18:46; Ann Malcolm, 4:19:46; Gordon Donnachie and Louise Pryde in 5:41:28 and Brian Cook, 5:41:49.  The Muppetts relay team comprising Tony Sweeney, Catriona McRobbie, Alex O'Hare and Sandy MacCalman completed the course in 4:03:47. Kelty Families 10K - Saturday 5th June - Wille Rennie, Martin Pettinger, Judith Dobson and Catriona McRobbie ran the Kelty Family Initiative 10K in Blairadam forest.   Willie was first back in 39:52 and was followed by Judith in 44:32, Martin in 45:06 and Catriona in 53:10. Full results.

 

Dunfermline City Half Marathon - Sunday 30th May - Five members of the club were amongst over 800 finishers on another hot day for this half marathon.  Willie Rennie secured 69th place recording 1:28:45.  He was followed by Judith Dobson in 1:38:52, Alex O'Hare in 1:47:20; Brian Cook in 2:12:27 and Gordon Donnachie in 2:30:42.  http://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/event_files/1614.pdf

Loch Leven Half Marathon - Saturday 22nd May - Ten Kinross Road Runners were led home by Willie Rennie in 1:27:56. Pauline Malley finished just ahead of Alex O’Hare and Gillian Lopez who crossed the finishing line together in 1:45:24 and 1:45:39, a personal best time for Gillian.  Club Coach Bill Nouillan accompanied Julia Melville on her first race at this distance to finish together in 1:51:27.  Louise Pryde showed the benefits of marathon training completing the course in a personal best time of 1:56:17. Brian Cook was next home in 2:01:32 followed by our newest member in the race Susan Thomson in 2:10:36.  Susan was followed by one of our longest serving members Allan Munro (2:23:30) who has run every single Loch Leven Half Marathon. Cateran Trail Relay Race - Saturday 15th May - The club entered 3 teams in this annual  relay race.   Teams of 6 run in pairs over 3 stages and 23 miles of the trail between Blairgowrie and Spittal of Glenshee.  The men's team recorded the best time ever for Kinross of 3hrs 27mins, the lady’s team finished in 4hrs 12mins and retained the Lady Veterans trophy for the third year running.  The mixed team enjoyed the glorious weather and fantastic scenery to finish in 4hrs 58mins.

Energy Zone Auld Toun 10K Road Race - Wednesday 12th May - Eight club members travelled to Dunfermline for this popular race which this year attracted 526 finishers.  Jake Dobson was first home in 84th place in a time of 41:56.  Ken Chalmers was next back in 142nd and a time of 44:21 followed by Judith Dobson in 44:51; Alex O'Hare, 46:59; Pauline Malley, 47:39; Ann Malcolm, 50:48; Brian Cook, 54:31 and Gordon Donnachie, 56:24. http://www.runningresults.freeserve.co.uk/auld/index.html

 

International Division - In one week Emma Barclay and Ian Parlin established the Kinross Road Runners International Division at two American races. The first was the Lexington Patriots Day Road Race, on 19 April in Lexington Massachusetts. This race was the same day as the Boston Marathon, and as anyone who followed the marathon knows, it was too hot for running that day, even just 5 miles. In a bold move Ian took an early lead on Emma and finished 43rd out of 444 runners in a time of 33:14. Emma finished in a time of 34:04 and received a trophy for 2nd female in her age group. Emma and Ian stuck together (literally at times) through knee deep mud and over rocky hills to finish 38th and 39th respectively out of 117 runners. Balmoral 10K race - Saturday 8th May - Rashmi Shah beat former World Champion Liz McColgan by two places securing 61st place out of 2,500 runners in 41:45 over this hilly course.

Belfast Marathon - Monday 3rd May - Rashmi Shah completed the Belfast Marathon in a time of 3:40:00 securing 290th place out of 1176 runners. http://www.belfastcitymarathon.com/

New Speyside Way 50K - Sunday 11th April - Judith Dobson completed this ultra terrain in a time of 4:31:36 securing 28th place, and 5th lady, out of a total of 93 runners.

Emily Hill Race - Saturday 10th April - It took Jake Dobson only 11 minutes and 6 seconds to win this junior race over 1.5 miles.  He beat fourteen other runners to win by 12 seconds.

Loch Katrine 12K - Sunday 4th April - A scenic route along the shores of Loch Katrine in the Trossachs attracted 4 runners from the club.  Willie Rennie was 35th out of the 173 entrants in a time of 49:19.  He was followed by Judith Dobson in 55:52 (68th); David Houston in 66:55 (120th) and Gordon Donnachie in 80:49 (164th).  http://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/event_files/1476.pdf

 

Alloa Half Marathon - Sunday 21st March - An eleven strong team from the club travelled to Alloa for the 22nd Half Marathon.  Rashmi Shah was first round the course in 90th place out of 809 in a time of 1:26:52.  Four club members recorded personal best times: Willie Rennie in 1:27:46; Emma Barclay in 1:31:47, Ian Parlin in 1:34:57 and Judith Dobson in 1:37:11.  Pauline Malley's time was 1:42:58; Alex O'Hare, 1:50:26; Gill Lopez, 1:51: 21; Bill Nouillan, 2:01:46; Brian Cook, 2:02:47 and Louise Pryde, 2:03:25.   http://www.clacksleisure.co.uk/halfmarathon.pdf

 

Round the houses 10k (Grangemouth) - Sunday 14th March - A large turnout of 701 runners braved the windy conditions at this flat road race round Grangemouth.  Willie Rennie was 128th in a time of 40:11; Pauline Malley 288th in 45:48 and David Houston 442nd in 51:33.

Arbroath 10 Mile Ladies Race - Sunday 7th March - A six strong team of runners from the club took part in the popular Ladies Only 10 Mile Smokies Road Race in Arbroath.  Judith Dobson was first home in 10th place recording a time of 72:26; Pauline Malley was 24th in 76:36; Gill Lopez 59th in 84:07; Julia Melville 66th in 85:10; Ann Malcolm 88th in 88:30 and Debbie Gillespie 97th in 89:29.  It was a good day for the race - sunny and clear and was well attended with 203 runners.  Judith won a prize.  Debbie won a voucher for a pair of trackie bottoms and Pauline won a voucher for a new pair of trainers! - both from Dundee Road Runner.

Lasswade (Bonnyrigg) 10 Mile Road Race - Sunday 7th March - Emma Barclay and Ian Parlin ran a competitive race against each other over this hilly and scenic road race just south of Edinburgh. Emma lead from the start and although Ian kept her in sight for the whole race he just couldn't catch up. Both achieved new PB's and finished only 25 seconds and 2 places apart, Emma in 1:11:11 and Ian in 1:11:36.

Bishophill Race - Sunday 7th March - In his second race of the day Willie Rennie was 31st in this short hill race at Scotlandwell.  He recorded a time of 23:32. http://www.shr.uk.com/shr/results.asp

Cupar 5 - Saturday 28th February - Three club members travelled to Cupar for this five mile road race.  Judith Dobson was first home in 35:25 securing 120th place out of the 179 runners.  Martin Pettinger was next home in 36:08 followed by Alex O'Hare in 38:36.

Carnethy 5 - Saturday 14th February - In his first hill race Jake Dobson won the under 16 Scald Law Hill Race.  His mother also performed well in 79:15, cutting several minutes off her time from last year.  Devil's Burden team member Peter Buchanan (who ran both the third and fourth leg) was first home in 65:10 and 127th place out of 452.  Willie Rennie was next home in a time of 68:18 followed by Ian Parlin in 70:34.

Devil's Burdens Relay Race - Saturday 31st January - Despite the whiteout blizzard conditions 49 teams completed the 21 mile, 4 leg relay race over the Lomond Hills. Two teams from Kinross did very well, considerably improving on last year's results.  Team A finished in 17th place and team B in 37th.  Team A consisted of Willie Rennie, Jake Dobson, Dave Batchelor, Ian Parlin, Peter Buchanan and Rashmi Shah.  Sandra Kinnear, Martin Pettinger, Graeme Malcolm, Emma Barclay, Judith Dobson and Pauline Malley made up team B.  Devil's Burdens provisional results  

 

Fife AC Nightmare Series, Heatherhall Woods, Ladybank - Wednesday 28th January - John Hargreaves was only 19 seconds behind the winner of the final race in the Nightmare series in a time of 18:18 over the 3.5 mile course.

Blairgowrie Fun Run - Thursday 1st January - John Hargreaves, Rashmi Shah and Willie Rennie travelled to Blairgowrie on New Years Day for this traditional 3.7mile run around Blairgowrie.  John secured 5th place and first junior in approx. 21 minutes.  Only two seconds separated Willie Rennie and Rashmi Shah with Willie sneaking it in 24:06.
